Training a New Employee With Lifting Equipment

All new employees need to be thoroughly trained when using any kind of lifting equipment. Whether it is an overhead crane, furniture movers or a chain hoist, the employee will need to be fully briefed and supervised in order to meet with health and safety regulations. Regardless of experience, the employee needs to be taught how to use your specific equipment. You should never assume any amount of knowledge as the machinery you use may be different fundamentally.

You should give ongoing training to all employees so that they can safely operate all pieces of lifting equipment on site. Keep a record of training in case you are ever inspected by health and safety inspectors. Complete all mandatory training and give employees time to read manuals related to the equipment they will be using. They should then shadow experienced members of staff to learn about best practices when operating machinery.
