Disabled adaptations and access

At D & G Construction (SW) Ltd we have a wealth of experience and specialised knowledge in converting homes for easier access for disabled people and those with mobility problems.

We are an approved contractor for Mears Home Improvement (formally Anchor Staying Put) the agency that specialises in assisting people with mobility difficulties and other agencieswithin Cornwall including Cornwall Council.

Access Improvements

Working with private customers and agencies we are able to provide access ramps and level access widened doorways for wheelchair access which can even be electronically remote controlled.

Easy Access Bathrooms

Bathrooms and toilets can be converted to create level access shower areas with wet floors and designed to meet individual needs and compliant with Part M of the building regulations.

We often take out dividing walls between the toilet and bathroom to create a single larger room. The one remaining access door to the bathroom can be widened if required or relocated.

Sanitary ware and Taps

Either specialised toilets (Clos-A-Mat) or raised toilets can be installed with grab rails and allow for side transfer from a wheel chair. Basins with wheelchair access are available fitted with rise and fall rails, using either conventional taps or lever taps. Temperature control blender valves can be installed to minimise the risk of scalds.

Adapted Showers

Level access showers with half height door sets and curtains and electric showers that offer programmable settings for ease of use are part of our normal specification.

Self Contained Bedrooms and En-suites

If there is a person with mobility problems living in your home, a self-contained bedroom with en-suite may be a suitable option and we can convert an existing room or build a complete extension

Most disabled adaptations can be carried under an exemption certificate so no VAT is added to invoice.
